For the biologist, Armenia is heaven
for exploration. It is rich with fauna and flora, but what
is amazing is the biological diversity of wild life. It
varies from dry semi-desert species of flowers and insects
to typical temperate forest inhabitants like bears and wolfs.
Special attention should be given to flora, insects, birds
and reptiles of Armenia. Some of them are endemic to Armenia.
One of the most interesting is original Ancient Wheat of
Erebuni, the ancestors of current wheat.
Frog in irrigation water

Armenia's waters.
Typical dry mountain semi-steppe
flora. This interesting dry flowers blossom in the end of
July.
Alpine meadows
near Lake Sevan pass 2114 meters above sea level. The best
time to go there is early June.
Armenian capers
in mountains of Jirvez. The smell of this flowers is fresh
and better than French perfume.
Armenian cliff
lizard near Gosh village, Northern Armenia. Some of these
small lizards are endemic to Armenia.
Poisonous butterfly

the insect is warning for birds.

Rare bushes like this are
perfect hiding places of snakes and lizards in drier areas
of Armenia.
Late July is the season for
dry mountain flowers to blossom. Some areas are covered
with thick pink flower carpet.
