The Urartu restaurant
serves traditional Armenian food. It is known as one of
the best places for the pork barbeque and located in the
beginning of Proshian Street next to Nor Dzoratun restaurant.
In addition, Urartu has the best carry out section where
you can place your order or call in advance.
Restaurant Design
- Very Good
The restaurant is facing the Hrazdan Gorge and it has a
very good outdoor dining areas. It is a typical Armenian
traditional barbeque restaurant. We liked the design of
the building, backyard and outside sitting areas.
Service - Good
The service in Urartu was ok and typical to most Armenian
barbeque places. We did not use the menu to order, just
asked for a kebob, barbeque and all the stuff that usually
accompanied the barbeque. The service in carry out section
of Urartu was great. It took no more than 15 minutes to
prepare the great food on the hot, natural charcoal.
Food and Drinks
- Excellent
The Urartu makes the best pork barbeque we have had in Yerevan.
Weather you eat in the restaurant or order from carry out
section, it is the same great barbeque. We suggest sirloin
pork and kebob. Besides the barbeque the salads and marinated
vegetables were also exceptional. The restaurant also had
a great variety of drinks including vodka and Armenian wine.
So, if you are in Yerevan, try Urartu and their carry out
service.
Prices - Moderate
$$$
The dinner with the drinks will cost you under $10. The
carry out prices are a little different, one portion of
sirloin barbeque will cost you around $3. The Urartu is
one of the best places in Yerevan and we definitely recommend
it to try the best Armenian food.
