Lakes and rivers of Armenia

Armenia is home of the unique, freshwater lake Sevan and many other high mountain lakes and rivers. Use of Sevan's water for irrigation and electricity created ecological catastrophe in 1960s and continued today. Lowering of the water level had an effect on the lake's ecosystem from physical conditions to primary production and disappearance of endemic trout. We have included a few pictures of Armenia's lakes and rivers and will add more in the near future.
