Armenia is home of the unique,
freshwater lake Sevan and many other high mountain lakes
and rivers. Use of Sevan's water for irrigation and electricity
created ecological catastrophe in 1960s and continued today.
Lowering of the water level had an effect on the lake's
ecosystem from physical conditions to primary production
and disappearance of endemic trout. We have included a few
pictures of Armenia's lakes and rivers and will add more
in the near future.
